Mai
Chau is set about 3.5 hours west of Hanoi and is approached as
you go down the side of a very steep valley. The village, nestled
between two towering cliffs and surrounded by emerald green paddies,
is enchanting to look at as you wind down the cliff side. The
scenery between Hoa Binh and Mai Chau opens up more and more the
further south and west you get. Winding up and down the hills
you will get a good appreciation for the depth of varied scenery
the area has to offer. Mai Chau itself presents an idyllic rural
valley that could easily charm you into staying longer than intended.
In spring Mai Chau is a bright almost parrot green and by autumn
this green transforms into golden hues as the rice approaches
harvest. Taking the time to watch these transitions of colour
seem like a perfectly useful way to spend your life while in Mai
Chau.
TOUR
ITINERARY:
Day
1: Hanoi // Mai Chau: Our tour guide
and driver will meet and pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi at
8:00am, we drive south west of Hanoi and pass Ha Tay province,
we stop at Ha Dong Town to visit Van Phuc traditional silk, which
is famouse for silk weaving in the North of Vietnam, you will
have an oppotunity to see how local people here made silk by tradition
and simple way. We continue our drive on narrow road through lush
rice field scenery, look at famers working their field by traditional
method, stops for taking pictures along the way up to Hoa Binh
town. We reach the town at about 10:00 am, we then following up
mountain curving road from here all the time to reach Mai Chau,
the scenery bellow valley is very spectacular, dotted with Muong
and Thai house on stilts, far away is high towering peak mountains,
on the mountain side minorities people work hard to earn for their
living. We reach Mai Chau district at about 12:00 noon. You will
feel fresh air and good climate when you just arrive. Our tour
guide we set off for your accommodation at a basic village called
LAC village, this village is spread out in the middle of Mai Chau
green valley, where we will check in a local Thai Minority's house
for our overnight stay today. As quick as possible the Thai people
here will prepare for us a good and lunch.
In
the afternoon we will take a loop walk through surrounding rice
paddies and villages around Mai Chau, in here you will see how
local people working, plan and havest water rice. You will also
see animals like buffaloes, pigs, cats, goats...freely around.
We stop at Poom Coong village to have a rest and see people here
weaving traditional brocades. We return to Lac village late afternoon
after seeing sunset. A warm hospitality and dilicious dinner will
be prepare at around 7:30 pm at the home where we stay overnight.
We then see special tradition Thai's dance until late everning.
Enjoy your overnight stay on sleeping mats on the floor of the
stilt house (Lunch and Dinner included)
Day
2: Mai Chau // Xa Linh // Hanoi:
Breakfast is served at village at about 8:00 am, we then say goodbye
and check out the village, heading up higher altitute, follow
sneak road to Xa Linh village, here this area is inhabited by
H'mong and Red Zao community, all their living conditions are
very basic, they are still living by sefficent life, lack of education
and very poor. We take a walk around the village to see how people
here are living. bellow valley offer very spectacular scenery.
We leave Xa Linh and forward to Hoa Binh town for our lunch. we
visit Hoa Binh hydroelectricity built with help from Russia, from
the Hoa Binh Dam you will see very beautiful scenery of Red River
Delta. Late afternoon return to Hanoi, we drop you back at your
hotel at about 4:30 pm. (Breakfast and Lunch included)
